As
a child whenever Chris's father would ask: "What do you
want to do when you grow up?" Chris would always answer
with what he thought his pappy
would be impressed by, all the while hoping to just do recess
when he"grew up". After high school Chris studied
part time and worked full timenot really fitting the typical
college model. Still trying to figure outwhat
to do as a grown up, Chris was given a golden ticket to the
big kid world, A technical job with lots of opportunity and
trade school inBelgium. With recess in his in his heart, Chris
set out to help do battle with robots and automate 4 production
facilities (and dismantle another);spending 5 years in Detroit
and 3 years south of the Mason Dixon Line.Along the way Chris
learned that there is alpine skiing in Alabama (sort
of) and definitely road biking in Greenville South Carolina, and
also that
having a blessed heart is very different than having someone
bless your heart.

Chris
had been too busy to hear it, but the bell had been ringing
for a
while. Recess was in, northernbound to the place his heart
had always been, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Say yah
to ‘da UP eh! Since Chris was where he wanted to be,
he decided to do what he wanted to
do and joined the Mont Ripley Ski patrol (just like Warren
Miller kept telling him to). Chris is also a PSIA Ski Instructor,
an EMT with the Keweenaw First Responders and an American
Canoe Association Certified Kayak Instructor. While he takes
his work very seriously, Chris can often be found on a bicycle,
giving equal attention to mountain and road disciplines. Just
don’t let his other bikes know that his Cruiser is the
favorite.
Chris
said his father seems OK with his choice to move to Michigan's
Keweenaw Peninsula(Copper Island), perhaps even happy. Still
learning the
art of being a seasonal employee spending his winters as a
ski instructor
and ski patrolling and his summers playing outside with his
friends at the
Keweenaw Adventure Company. Chris enjoys any reason that lets
him play
outside, especially with new friends.
So
what are you waiting for? Can you come outside and play? |
