Why Experiencing the Upper Peninsula Mountain Biking Trails is a Must

Getting to Become Part of History in the Making…

Upper Peninsula Mountain Biking

Become a part of Upper Peninsula mountain biking history, and experience a world renown trail system that is undergoing a most massive growth-spurt. Originally sprouted from a mid-1990s grassroots effort of dedicated and hardy trail nuts, the Copper Harbor Mountain Bike Trails in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have undoubtedly grown leaps and bounds. First receiving recognition by the International Mountain Bike Association as an “Epic Ride” in 2009, it was then designated as a “Bronze Level Ride Center” in 2011 and later bumped up to a “Silver Level Ride Center” in 2012.

Since then the volunteer-based Copper Harbor Trails Club (a non-profit 501c3) has continued to foster this most impressive growth and in recent years have accomplished much of what those very first volunteers actually dreamt of doing! And what’s more? This Upper Peninsula mountain biking destination is just warming up! The current plans of the Trails Club include construction that will double the existing 30+ mile network of sweet single-track!

And the Keweenaw Adventure Company (KAC), celebrating its 25th Anniversary season this year, has been a proud player in the trail system development, contributing to the trails with both thousands of man hours and financial donations. Copper Harbor mountain bike rentals and guided tours are available through KAC, along with Lake Superior sea kayaking — a great way to cool off at the end of a day’s ride, bid farewell to the day on a spectacular sunset paddle sea kayak tour as the sun drops into Lake Superior.

You can also boost your adrenaline on a downhill mountain bike run and save your legs, as the Keweenaw Adventure Company offers the only Upper Peninsula shuttle service for mountain biking. An activity that’s most commonly associated with ski resorts out west, mountain bikers enjoy bombing down Copper Harbor’s sustained vertical descents along miles of flowy singletrack that connect the top of the system to the the village, nearly 600′ vertical and up to 3 miles below.

Truly unique to this part of the country, the Copper Harbor Trails provide a Michigan mountain biking experience that’s guaranteed to make you smile and keep riders coming back for more! Humbled to be recognized as being some of the best of the best, we welcome you to come adventure on the world-wide stage with us!
