Ben Miller – Lake Superior Sea Kayak Guide

kac_bio_1-2Ben’s love for the outdoors and snow brought him to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the Keweenaw.  He originally grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio but was born to be in the outdoors.  At the early age of 15, Ben obtained the highest rank in Boy Scouts, the Eagle Scout.  Through Boy Scouts, he was able to enjoy many outdoor adventures including hiking at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and canoeing at Northern Tier in Ely, Minnesota.  In 2011, Ben graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology and a minor in Alternative Energy.   Along with working at Keweenaw Adventure Company, Ben is the owner and operator of Keweenaw Kabin Keeper LLC and is a Realtor at Northern Michigan Land Brokers.kac_bio_4-2

 

Ben’s favorite season is winter and he enjoys many snowy recreational activities.  His favorite winter hobbies include snowboarding, ice climbing, and snowmobiling.  In February 2015, he made a solo snowmobile trip across the entire Upper Peninsula in one day totaling 437 miles.  Ben enjoys making a trip out west each winter to snowboard at various resorts.  Snowboarding last winter Ben visited nine resorts, totaling over 282 runs up the chair lift which equaled 175 miles and fell a total of 183,400 vertical feet!  Though never riding the overflow in the summer on a mountain bike, Ben was able to ride down it on a white room powder day on his snowboard!

 

kac_bio_2-2Ben currently lives in Lake Linden with his wife Elizabeth, son Brecken, and three dogs Mya, Autumn, and Timber.  He is a First Responder and Firefighter 2 on the Bootjack Fire and Rescue Department.  Ben enjoys any outdoor activity in the Northwoods including: fishing, hunting, rock climbing, hiking, four wheeler/dirt bike trail riding, and snowshoeing.
