Meet Megan- Bike Mechanic, Bike Tour Guide & Kayak Tour Guide
Megan grew up in southeastern Wisconsin, but spent lots of time traveling north for outdoor adventures. She spent most of her weekends exploring rivers and lakes in a kayak, or hills and forests on a bike. Her mountain biking skills got off to a strong start when she joined a local mountain biking youth league in 8th grade. She enjoyed racing and riding so much, she became a volunteer coach after graduation.
She is a recent graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied Atmospheric and Oceanic Science and was the biking chair of Hoofer Outing Club. During her time in Madison, she was able to connect her interest in natural science with getting fellow students and community members on day- to week-long excursions. She has always been passionate about creating a space where people feel comfortable trying new things. From sea kayaking to biking, she’s passionate about helping more people explore all that the Upper Peninsula has to offer.
This is Megan’s third year working for the Keweenaw Adventure Company. Over the past few seasons she has developed her outdoor instruction skills in mountain biking and sea kayaking with certification courses through the American Canoe Association (ACA) and Professional Mountain Bike Instruction Association (PMBIA). During the recent off-season, Megan was working on bikes and riding as much as possible on the warm and sunny Big Island of Hawaii.
When Megan isn’t working with bikes, you can find her paddling, hiking, backpacking, or reading just about anything she can find.
