Holland

Meet Holland – Sea Kayak Guide, & Shuttle Driver

Holland grew up in lower Michigan, spending her summers camping, kayaking and biking
around Michigan with her family. One of her favorite places to visit in Michigan is the
Keweenaw Peninsula and Isle Royale National Park.

She went to Central Michigan University to study Recreational Therapy. She would often leave
on the weekends to backpack and ski in northern Michigan. In college she worked for an
overnight outdoor camp for kids and adults with disabilities. She got her first taste of a multi-
week backpacking trip hiking over 100 miles of the North Country Trail across the Upper
Peninsula.

After college she moved to Breckenridge, Colorado where she spent the next five winters
working as an adaptive ski instructor with different abilities and ages. When not at
work she could frequently be found earning her turns skiing the backcountry. She completed her
AERIE One her first season in Breckenridge.

In the summer Holland would spend her time as a whitewater raft guide. Starting off in
Colorado at Browns Canyon, she then moved to work as an adaptive raft guide in Moab, Utah.
She guided multi-day overnight trips on the scenic Colorado and Green River. During those five
years out west she got to explore mountain biking outside of Michigan.

Holland enjoys backpacking and recently thru hiked the entire 500-mile Colorado Trail. She also
backpacked 150 miles through Portugal and Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Holland loves
packrafting in rivers and lakes big and small especially if that means a night of cowboy camping
under the stars. When not in the outdoors covered in dirt and glitter Holland enjoys reading,
cooking, and crafts.
