Meet Tyler – Senior Kayak & MTB Guide, Mechanic & Shop Representative

I grew up in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, and made my way up to the Keweenaw Peninsula many moons ago to attend Michigan Tech. I always heard the same thing from my friends: “I wish I could keep living in the U.P., but there are no jobs there.” Turns out, there are jobs here! You just have to settle for spending your days on the water and under the sun, instead of in a cubicle. Bummer.

This will be my forth summer with the Keweenaw Adventure Company. When I’m not working on bikes or leading kayak tours, you can probably find me riding bikes and doing some more kayaking. I’m passionate about education of all sorts and in the offseason, I trade the lake for a more traditional classroom, where I teach 7th grade science.
