At the start of our 2015 season, our blog post Dreams & Donations are the Reality shared how Sam’s vision was to be more than just a guide and outfitter when he purchased the Keweenaw Adventure Company (KAC) over a decade-and-a-half ago. He planned to be a “catalyst of change and of growth for the tourist economy… he desired to contribute to conservation and education efforts for the land that he loved.”

To come full circle at the season’s close we wanted to reach out to say “THANK YOU!” to all of you for your continued support, and to also “toot our horn” a bit about the fact that we’ve another record breaking season of growth – both in the number of adventures provided to customers and contributions we could afford to support the trails.

The season’s success permitted us to contribute to the Copper Harbor Trails Club (a 501c3 non-profit) with a $2500 Summit Level donor-ship, $1550 of Mountain Bike Shuttle fundraisers and $1400 of customer solicited Land Acquisition donations (plus $820 from the donation jar kept prominently on the front counter). Additionally, we were able to keep employees on-the-clock to conduct trail maintenance and mow the disc-golf course at the Mountain Lodge.

We are remarkably grateful for the support that our loyal customer base continues to give through their patronage and recommendations, and we have an eternal respect for the symbiotic relationship our company has with both the Copper Harbor Trail system and the natural beauty of the Keweenaw Peninsula.
