"Your
Adventure Starts Here" |
"Copper Harbor Singletrack Rocks!!!". These words
are commonly heard about mountain biking in this Upper Peninsula
mountain bike paradise.
Designated in 2009 as an IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling
Association) "Epic Ride", our world-class trail
system is now recognized as being some of the best of the
best...something the locals have known for quite some time!
Keweenaw
Adventure Company is Michigan’s northern-most bike shop. Perhaps
best described as an “outpost shop at the end of the
road”, we specialize in the needs of the travelling cycling
enthusiast. Our qualified mechanics and essential selection
of parts and accessories will keep you rolling during
your visit to Copper Harbor. Or you can expereince
some of the Midwest's best singletrack trails on one
of the industry's best mountain bike rentals from Kona &
Marin.
More than just a bike shop, we have built our reputation as
trail builders, mountain bike fanatics and folks who like
to have a good time with our involvement with the Copper Harbor
Fat Tire Festival (always the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend)
since 1994. As the "soul center" of the Copper Harbor
mountain bike scene, we have maps and are the local experts
when it comes to sharing trail information. Our staff loves
to ride and also spends countless hours of volunteer
time each season helping to build and maintain the trails...we
know them better than anyone! Learn more about
the Copper Harbor Trails Club and how you can help to

Centrally
located in “downtown” Copper Harbor, the principal mountain
bike trailhead is conviently located right across the street
from our shop, behind the Welcome Center. Copper Harbor has
a well-established network of over 25 miles of designated,
marked and mapped singletrack trails that include some of
the most unique, scenic and challenging mountain
biking in all of Michigan. In addition to these trails,
miles and miles of logging roads and jeep trails traverse
the uninhabited tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, with access
to remote Lake Superior shorelines, State Forest and conservancy
lands.

The
terrain of the Keweenaw Peninsula surrounding Copper Harbor
is mountainous by Midwestern standards and has some of the
highest vertical elevation (up to 900’) between the Appalachian
and the Rocky Mountains! Scoured away by the glaciers over
10,000 years ago, the rocky, rugged terrain of exposed bedrock,
spiny ridge-lines and undulating valleys left behind offer
a “genuine” mountain biking experience unlike anywhere else
in this part of the country. When combined with the
energy and awe of Lake Superior , the enchanted northwoods
“Boreal Forest”, cool summer temperatures, surealistic fall
colors and down-to-earth U.P. hospitality, Copper Harbor is a
premier destination for a mountain bike vacation which rivals
some of the best anywhere in the world! |
